Swedish Center Alfred Larsson Commits to Merrimack College

Merrimack College has received a commitment from ’93 center Alfred Larsson for 2014.
After playing four seasons with Malmo’s junior teams in Sweden, Larsson moved to the United States this past season, scoring 19 points (8 goals, 11 assists) in 46 games with the Youngstown Phantoms of the United States Hockey League.
Larsson possesses a big frame at 6-foot-4, 204 pounds. He plays a physical style and skates well for a for a player of his size. He also served as an assistant captain with Malmo.
Larsson’s brother, Louis, is a ’95 center who is still playing his Sweden. His father, Carl-Erik, played 11 seasons of professional hockey in Sweden.
Larsson becomes the latest in a run of international players to commit to Merrimack’s program. Stephane Da Costa (France) started the trend, and has since been joined by Rasmus Tirronen (Finland) and John Gustafsson (Sweden). Hampus Gustafsson (Sweden) and Larsson (Sweden) are both players committed to the program.
