According to a report by USHR, Boston College associate head coach Mike Cavanaugh has withdrawn his name from the race to become the next head coach at UMass.
Cavanaugh was “frustrated with the process,” according to the report. UMass has previously offered the position to Quinnipiac head coach Rand Pecknold and Holy Cross head coach Paul Pearl, but both candidates decided to remain in their current positions.
Jim Montgomery, another rumored candidate, signed an extension with Dubuque Fighting Saints (USHL), effectively withdrawing himself from the process.
