According to multiple reports, the Ottawa Senators recalled former Merrimack forward Stephane Da Costa to its NHL roster on Sunday.
Da Costa, who would have been a senior on this year’s Merrimack team, signed with the Senators after his sophomore season after scoring 90 points in (30-60–90) in 76 career NCAA games. He has 24 points (9-15–24) this season in 31 games with the Senators’ AHL affiliate in Binghamton. The Paris native has five points (3-2–5) in 26 career NHL games, all coming with the Senators.
“Da Costa, who would have been a senior on this year’s Merrimack team…”
Wow, could you imagine the team we’d have if that were the case?
I can’t blame him for going for the money.. I know I would have if I had the chance. But I think he would have done some great things back here, too.
DaCosta and Collins on a line? (or anchoring two separate lines?) I think we would be on par with BC.
Fun to think about, for sure. But, I’ve never blamed a kid for living a dream and signing with an NHL club.
