Matt Foy Signs with Eispiraten

Former Merrimack College forward Matt Foy has signed with Eispiraten Crimmitschau in the DEL2 for the upcoming season. It will be Foy’s fourth consecutive season in Germany, after spending the last three seasons with Eisbaren Berlin in the DEL. He began his career overseas in 2012 and has spent all of his time in Germany since moving on from North America.

Foy only played one season at Merrimack, scoring 24 points in 31 games in 2001-02 before being drafted by the Minnesota Wild and signing with the Ottawa 67’s of the Ontario Hockey League the next season. He spent five years in Minnesota’s system, appearing in 56 NHL games and scoring 13 points (6 goals, 7 assists).

In 28 games with Eisbaren last season, Foy totaled 19 points on 11 goals and eight assists.
