Merrimack Selected to ECAC Women’s Tournament

The Merrimack College women’s basketball team will return to the court this season as one of eight teams in the 2014 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division II Postseason Tournament.

The Warriors return to Bert Hammel Court for their first-round meeting on Wednesday, March 12 at 6 p.m. The semifinals will be played on Saturday, March 15 while the Championship game will be held on Sunday, March 16 at Fairfield University.

The Warriors earned their first ECAC bid and the No. 4 seed after posting an overall record of 12-14. Their first round opponent will be the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College, a foe that Merrimack has not met since 2007-08 and defeated, 61-56, at home on Dec. 29, 2007.

Merrimack has not played a game since its 74-63 home victory over Saint Michael’s on Feb. 25. The Navy and Gold earned an 8-13 record in the Northeast-10 Conference and finished sixth in the NE-10 Northeast Division.

Admission to the game is free for all fans and live stats will be avaible.
