Merrimack Releases 2014 Volleyball Schedule
- Updated: July 10, 2014
Highlighted by eight home matches, including a rematch of the 2013 Northeast-10 Conference Championship against the University of New Haven, and a challenging tournament against three regional powers, fourth-year head coach T.J. Hajjar is pleased to unveil the 2014 Merrimack College women’s volleyball schedule.
The season begins Thursday, Sept. 4, when the Warriors welcome NE-10 foe Southern New Hampshire to Hammel Court to kick things off on the first official day of the 2014-15 Merrimack Athletics academic year.
Featuring 14 conference matches – six of which will be played in North Andover – Merrimack will aim for back-to-back appearances in the postseason after last year’s magical run to the NE-10 Final as the No. 7 seed. The 2014 Women’s Volleyball NE-10 Championship begins Tuesday, Nov. 11, with the quarterfinal round on campus sites before the highest seed remaining hosts the Final Four on Nov. 14-15.
After the season opener, Merrimack will travel south to Delaware to compete in a two-day, four-match tournament hosted by Wilmington University from Sept. 12-13. The Warriors will face regional foes Holy Family and Dowling before a match against the host Wildcats, and then an out-of-region bout against Millersville.
Returning to the Northeast to take on Assumption and Saint Anselm in non-conference road matches the following weekend, Merrimack will then entertain back-to-back home games against Southern Connecticut State (Sept. 25) before kicking off conference play against Saint Anselm on Sept. 30.
Turning to October, the Warriors will play all but one match against NE-10 competition starting with a highly anticipated rematch of the 2013 NE-10 Championship against New Haven on Oct. 3 at Hammel Court. Just over a week and a half later, Merrimack will welcome Franklin Pierce on Oct. 14 before a season-high five-game match stretch featuring a neutral-site tilt against Molloy as part of a tri-meet at Southern Connecticut State on Oct. 25.
Finally, Merrimack rounds out the month at home against Assumption (Oct. 31) before back-to-back road matchups at American Int’l (Nov. 1) and Saint Michael’s (Nov. 4). Finally, the Warriors round out the regular season with back-to-back home matches against Pace (Nov. 7) and Adelphi (Nov. 8).
