Joey Diaco Commits to Merrimack Over D1 Schools

West Deptford (New Jersey) senior midfielder Joey Diaco has committed to Merrimack College.

Diaco has a laundry list of honors both on and off the field, including being named First team All Conference, First Team South Jersey and South Jersey Player of the Year last season as a junior. Diaco was also named the Maverik Showtime Sophomore and Junior of the Year and was a New Jersey Brine All American.

In the classroom Diaco is an honor-roll student who is a member of the National Honor Society and intends to go pre-med (biology) at Merrimack, according to a story on PhillyLacrosse.com.

Diaco also considered St. Joseph’s University and Dartmouth College, both Division 1 universities; he also plays for the South Jersey Shamrocks club team.

“First, I would like to thank my family for always being there for me and supporting me throughout my lacrosse career,” Diaco told PhillyLacrosse.com “I would also like to thank my high school coaches; Coach Mike (Yarusso), Coach Dave (Gaylord), and Coach Cip (John Cipriani). Lastly I would like to thank my Shamrock Coaches; Coach (Steve) Picot, Coach Bill (Keane), and again Coach Mike (Yarusso).”
