Hockey East SOS Standings for Feb. 19, 2013
- Updated: February 19, 2013
– New Hampshire now takes over the easiest road out, with its opponents packing just a .379 winning percentage.
– Lowell, which is five points out of first place, has the toughest road to the end of the season, with its opponents winning more than 60 percent of its games (.607). Based upon what’s ahead of them in the standings, it appears as if it will five-team race for the Hockey East regular-season championship. That said, the way this season has transpired, I wouldn’t rule anything out. Did anyone think we’d see Merrimack in first place right now?
– Maine still has a very good shot at earning a playoff berth, owning one of the weaker schedules to close the year with both UMass and Vermont, the teams directly in front of them, having much tougher paths. … I wouldn’t have foreshadowed this in January given their positions, but it’s still very possible the Warriors and Black Bears meet in the playoffs for a third straight season.
