North Andover’s David Breen has been hired as the new director at Micro Ice Training centers in North Andover. Breen is a former Merrimack hockey player who is also a former Eagle-Tribune All Star during his days at Phillips Academy. He’s taking over for Matt Deschamps, a former Maine defenseman who took a position with a pro team in Austria last month.

Micro Ice is a facility that specializes in skill training and player development, using a smaller ice sheet. It’s located in North Andover, near the Stop & Shop on Route 114.

Breen was named Hockey East’s Top Scholar Athlete in 2002-03 and after finishing his playing career at Trinity, became an assistant coach. Most recently, he was working as an assistant coach at Curry College.

Micro Ice is owned by former Boston Bruin and longtime New Jersey Devil, Jay Pandolfo, along with current NHL’er Scott Gomez as well as Pandolfo’s brother and cousin, Mike and Mark Pandolfo.
